G'Day All,
I have just picked up (second hand of course) a copy of Bob Flowerdews Organic Bible, printed in the UK in 1999. I am reading through it but am still at the flower and lawn bits - yet to get to the veggies.
Do you guys know who this character is? Is what he writes good stuff? What is his reputation? I would appreciate somebody filling me in!
Thanks
Nev

Hi Nev
He seems to know what he's talking about and has been on the organic gardening scene for a good long time - blonde hair in a plait much of the time.
I had a copy of that book and found it to be very useful but sold it a while ago when money was extremely tight - if I saw one second hand I would definitely buy it!!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/gqt/panel/p ... rdew.shtml says it all really!!

Yup, he's pretty much the first person you think of when you think organic. He was always a bit 'different' (especially the hair!). He has experimented with all sorts of veg and fruit you wouldn't normally consider growing, tropical as well I believe. I think he is on BBC's Gardeners' Question Time now, isn't he (a radio gardening prog)?
Edited to say I've just read the above link and I was right (thank god). Guavas eh? Wow!!!

I've seen a program with him in his garden - all recycled stuff and organic - it was great - I love his style - he is very down to earth and practical. Write for BBC Gardeners World and is part of the panel on the radio show.

I am a big fan of Bob Flowerdew. He used to appear on Gardeners World a few years ago but I think he was abit too down to earth for the programme.
I found this article you may find interesting which will give you an idea of the kind of man he is.Its from the Sunday Times.
Interview by Sue Fox
The organic gardener, 52, is a regular panel member of Radio 4’s Gardeners’ Question Time. He tends three-quarters of an acre in Diss, Norfolk, where he lives with his wife, Vonnetta, a care worker, and their twins, Italia and Malachi, 6 months
I’m up at dawn with the cockerel and chickens, who congregate outside the bedroom window. I feed them organic corn, see to the goose, check on the beehive and throw a few breadcrumbs to the fish in the water butts. Fish keep gnats away. Our six cats are encouraged to work for a living â€â€

Great article - I think he's fab! Really down to earth bloke and great advice to boot. His love of gardening is obvious for all to see.
