Following on from circlecross's 'every allotment helps' suggestion, I've come up with a couple more slogans:
Allotments - where good food costs less... in fact, next to nothing.

OK then, on Sunday 10th August (the day before allotment week starts) there will be a day of action across the land. Vegetables all over the country will be protesting by having tea parties, sitting on small bridges, jumping on pogo sticks and generally messing about. This country needs more allotments Allotments 4 vegetables.
Hmm, see as a rising call to arms I think allotments for vegetables still works the best. It would be good not to get too carried away with the name, is the 10th August a good time for us vegetables to dress up??? - Quick show of for and against??
I have thought of just the spot to sit and have a tea party (dressed up as vegetables) in Bristol, a place in the center of town just a stones throw from the BBC building.

Just read in the Sunday Herald Magazine about KT Tunstall - hardly hear about her before
, which just shows that I'm not quite up to date - but she seems to be very much into green issues! Can't you try and hijack somebody like that for your action?

Dh says he is DEFINITELY going to be dressing as a couch potato on the DAY (ha ha ha). Like I would be able to tell the difference...

well ds2 was dressed as a pumpkin for much of the day - it was "party day" at the Northern Green Gathering, and although ds1 could pass for a string bean, he was dressed as Peter Pan, ds2 dressed as a pumpkin, then myself and SIL dressed as a cross between moulin rouge/burlesque fairies (haven't decided what veg that could be???) Dh still maintained couch potato status as his feet broke and had to hobble about and sit a lot.
