101 re-uses for 2litre bottles

101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

I use the plastic 2 or 3 litre bottles to measure out my chooks daily amount of layer mash as my son's job in the evening is to put the girls in their night house. If I leave it up to him we go throught he mash 20 kilo in less than a fortnight for 12 hens. So I measure each day in a bottle and have 7 of them on the go so that once a week I top them up. Also same for the kitty litter as he has that job as well.
I am going to try an experiment with them I saw on a documentary one. Tie the bottles together by the handles or put them in a large net and use it as a floating island on our dam as the ducks and geese when I get then can use it for a retreat for getting away from preditors e.g. Foxes.
I saw a fellow in Mexico do thid and he actually lives on his bottle island.
Gosh here I am rambling on. i will post the results when it is completed :flower:

Well that would beat the land shortage crisis... wow that's pretty cool.

I'm off to find a picture of him

Fill with water, freeze. When frozen, on a hot day, cover in a teatowel and place in small furry animals cage - they can lean against it to cool down. I used to do this with my ratties, and they'd sleep on top of the bottle.

22 Put on the top of garden canes used to stake up plants so you don't poke your eye out.

23 Tie a bunch of bottles together and the wind will rattle them and scare the birds away.

24. Fill with sand and let the kids play skittles with them.

22 Fill with sand and make skittles for the kids.

23 Put on top of garden stakes to stop you poking your eye out when
you bend down.

24 Tie a bunch of them together and they will rattle in the wind and scare the birds away.
