Re: What small thing have you looked up recently?
Hmmm my most recent searches have been
butter to oil measurement conversions
knitting needle size conversions
how to bleach whites or remove stains/colour runs from whites
what's the difference between assume & presume?
is iron consumption affected by drinking rooibos tea like regular tea?
cooking temperature conversions
help with biting breastfed baby!
sponsor a battery hen
uk sunrise times
shoe sizes in cm
upside down tomato planting
why does edna always wear a hat?
My husband must get quite confused when he types in the search bar!

I assume it's the baby doing the biting, not youPenny Lane wrote: help with biting breastfed baby!

Did you find an answer? My first job when I left school was doing the typing for a troll. He was once having a right go at me for doing something on my own initiative (or as he saw it, doing something without his permission). I said I presumed blah-de-blah... and he asked "Presumed, or assumed?". I didn't know.Penny Lane wrote: what's the difference between assume & presume?

Re: What small thing have you looked up recently?
So far today...
Info on various Dutch football players
Local weather forecast for this area of France
Information on the Marshalsea (guess who was watching little Dorrit)
How to roast chestnuts (found loads in the woods today)
Ideas for tracing runaway cats (ours is still awol)
Meaning of various French and Spanish words
Where to find a free/cheap roofbox for our car
Whether or not my various cousins and their offspring are on Facebook (they are)
and finally the difference between second cousins and first cousins once removed
As someone once said to me "google is your friend..."

Actually I do know the word, I was just being 'witty' back!Green Aura wrote:Sorry, MMM - I thought you were joking!
A wag = a witty person.
Maybe we should start a dictionary corner for explaining terms that don't necessarily travel beyond borders. I've heard a few up here I could do with having explained!

We do have an Ish dictionary somewhere with British/American/Australian/NZ terminology on it - it ran for pages. I'll see if I can find it.
Oh and yes, there are a few words in the swear word filter that we put in ages ago likes p o r n and the names of various dodgy drugs!

Re: What small thing have you looked up recently?
the last thing i googled was reviews for a philips mp3/mp4 player... the hubby was making large hints about how much i like my brother's ipod shuffle, what size i'd like, where can you buy them, how much ar5e they and finally (the clincher) do they come in purple... i told him of the birthday fairy did her researh she might find that although i like my brother's ipod, it lacks a few things i would want for that kind of money and that a couple of pages on in the argos catalogue is a philips which i would prefer, despite it not being purple... IF someone was going to bring me one for oh, i dont know, my 26th birthday. perhaps. it being only a month or so away.... he then said "righteeho, you find some reviews, make sure it's what you'd like andi'll pass the request on to the birthday fairy"...
so, yeah. review for a product.

Re: What small thing have you looked up recently?
I looked up a Photoshop Plugin so I could recommend it to someone and then found said plugin had loads more plugins to go with it so ended up with more plugins HAHA!
I also looked up modified Maize starch as someone on a different forum is convinced the starch in his cheery pie filling will convert to glucose really easily and therefore he can make wine out of it... I also looked up amylase in conjunction with it and read lots and lots of scientific papers about it... short answer is it won't change to glucose if he uses pectolaze in it as he thought originally lol
