Well Zoe,
If I can get the old poop a deckhand, and keep making progress with my end of things, maybe he won't sell her.
She's special, only 1 of 10 of her kind made in Canada, not the kind of boat you let go of, because she will become a classic commercial vessel.
SO drawing on my experience with classic cars, I may be able to make him understand . His wife also has 2 classic cars, she would understand.
Only hers are Jaguars where mine were humble Austin A40 Farina's.
But still, the same sort of principal applies. And the "Dagan" is a commercial classic who is going out next year, just got all her topside gear this week and she looks grand!
So if I can keep a-working away and make Duby look nicer, maybe her owner will change his tune!
Lois

Can we see more pictures? This is a really interesting thread and I would love to see what you started with and where you are now.
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

Yes, I'll be taking more pictures tomorrow, I warn you, I haven't got far, she's been sitting 8 years.
But she's a sweet little boat. I hope the owner does fix her, because I want a tour of our local bay before she goes fishing-but I'll have to buy the fuel and its about $5.00 per gallon even for diesel here right now
Plus, the owner will find he has a few pairs of willing hands to do some of the work, I have one friend who has lived and worked on boats for years. I know he'll help, then there's Rick and I. I can paint, Rick knows quite a bit about auto mechanics, its just transferring that knowledge to a marine engine and electrical system.
Time for a little study I think!

Well being a "wharf rat" paid off handsomely.
I was there when there was a tuna boat and a shrimp boat that were selling and came home with a 15lb albacore tuna and a 25lb bag of shrimp, because I luckily had money.
So we've been eating exceptionally well and I've visited another shrimp boat since and got another 10 lbs.
My poor halibut boat came home with a dent in her nose, luckily she's a steel boat, so she bent and didn't break apart. Her owner has a whack of work ahead of him to get her ready for next season.
He'll really be swearing, and so will I. I'm going to paint the cabin this year. I have to scrub it first-and carefully, because I can't get paint in the water.
I'll be coming home wearing flecks of green or white paint for at least a month, but everything I can reach is going to get a coat of paint, and I'm going to look for help with one area of the foredeck that has "starcrazing" on it, its caused by water getting under the paint.
I want to get a rowboat so I can row around and scrub some other spots and hope like heck they don't bleed too much paint
I am going to charge 1 halibut for looking after Duby next year-I know Haste gets them, and thats not much for 12 months of boat care.!

Yuk I have a slimy boat
A barge at the other end of the harbour flushed the bilge and ALL the boats are slimy
We have 40 sealions barking all day-big males, the females won't be in for a month. They've made a new wharf finger their home and its a good thing its a new one or they'd fall through!
Oh well, the few tourists are having fun with their cameras and we who have boats to see to are wishing for earplugs!
