Actually, I still live without TV, or video, or DVD.... Am regularly hassled by those licencing people in Bristol, of course. I offered to pay for listening to the radio, but they don't want that. Tough luck.

I've never used a DVD player, but from what I read it is often possible to hack the region setting quite easily.

Try putting something like 'DVD hacks' into Google and see what comes up.
