There are 5 x 40w bulbs in the fitting. In the dimmer switch, there is a section for a fuse, and the only one that fits is the 1amp. The folk who had the house before us were also using 1amps and I was going to upgrade to a 3amp but it is too big for the hole.Muddypause wrote:PD - 1 amp is marginal for 5 lights, even if they are quite small ones. 3 or 5 amps would be more suitable. Are these 5 lights separately fused somehow? If it is the main fuse for the circuit (at the fusebox) then 5 amps is the usual rating for a lighting circuit.
If any of my other lights go, we have two fuse boxes upstairs for different sections of the house and the garage, and the fuse goes there. Weirdly, the lounge lights don't blow anything in that fusebox - only the one in the switch.
The electrician came round one time to change a wall plug (don't ask!
