I nicked them off the washing line late one night. He never noticed!

He'll kill me when he sees this thread.

Just joking Nev.

You'll be ok Nev, I only cut the toes out of them!

Seriously though, I am on a sprouting mission this week. I am going to ask my local post office shop for another sweetie jar to start my beans off in. (they usually sell them for 20p in aid of our local hospice)

Thanks Andy,

I'd like to meet up as we aren't a million miles away. BTW I checked out about allotments in our area today.

Guess wot? 4 year waiting list!

I then suggested to the council that they should think about finding more overgrown land that they own to provide people with what they are asking for. The 'voice' on the phone said, oh that's not my department. You'll have to speak to the 'land people'. He also said that finding land for cemetries was more important! Pah...I wanna grow something, not get buried!

Just a suggestion, but what about just growing stuff on waste land anyway? I have found a perfect spot in Bath that I have been debating weather to use or not. It is never used and I think it is owned by the council and does not seem like it will be developed. Not sure where the law stands, but I have never heard of anyone who was arrested for gardening.

rather naughty, but why not?

I had a little spark of inspiration and thought of advertising something in my local postoffice to ask if anyone has a large garden with a spare bit 'going' for me to grow stuff on. Of course, they would get a few veg in return!

Whaddya reckon?
