When I do our liquid gubbins, I always pop the plantstuff into an old cloth bag - I always use old pillowcases. Then I tie it up, pop it in the bucket & then fill the bucket with water. I keep an old cane next to the bucket & give it a weekly/fortnightly dig about..... then when it's ready, I just pull the whole bag out - there, no straining!!

Nettle "broth" is excellent on tomatos, runners & probably most veg........ but don't do what i did & put it on your strawberries, as it seemed to seriously harm the plants. They've recovered now, but way too late for this year.

Girls and boys, first, remove your designer clothes and nose, this is organic gardening, secondly, only remove the top leaves on the nettle plant, the young ones, if your not mixing them with freerange hen sh-t or something similer, please go to your local store and purchase your poison. (no smell) All of above need to be soaking for at least two months in a covered container, and then? depending on the strength of your mix, dilute with water to a light beer colour and feed away Toms love it.

Ahh so that's what's in the blue barrel at the bottom of my garden.... recently (late March) moved into a new (to us that is) house and inherited a nice garden (flippin' long though).... Noticed a rain butt (so I thought) down by the bottom fence.... Approached it, poked about a bit (broken spade shaft was handy I think) and recoiled in disgust..... Me spuds loved it though, as did the toms and cuc's too.... Fed them once and looking at feeding them again this weekend.... Thanks to the previous occupant!!!
