What do you think is a reasonable rent for a 1 acre field?

Minnesota...yup, just about - now that we have thawed out over here, provided it is not too wet the ground is cultavatable. The only shame is that I will be doing it by hand as our local hire shop charges £60 a weekend for a rotivator!

Thurston...don't worry, I am very close to asking, just have to try and find a polytunnel that is not too permenant. Can't wait!

That's a h3ll of a lot of land to cultivate by hand. It's even a lot to do with a rotovator (speaking from experience!).

Can you not get a farmer, or farm contractor to plough and power harrow it for you? My landlords son used to do mine - took him about 20mins to plough an acre and and the same a few days later to power harrow it. £20 or £30 covered it and his eyes lit up on the sight of easy money - he would plough all day for his Dad at the weekends for nothing! One year I paid him in pork which I suspect he sold to his Mum....
