Thank you everyone - and there I was congratulating myself on the fact that I didn't put my back out like I did last year on my birthday, when I spied one of those very long thin legged spiders doing something to a shorter legged fat spider - so I chased off the nasty spider and started to check the other one and unwrap the web that he was being spun up in - and the rotten thing sunk his fangs into my hand!!! There's gratitude for you and it ruddy hurt! Stung and tingled and was hot for about half an hour but I took an antihistamine tablet and luckily it's OK this morning!

Oh and the dins was very nice! Lazy day over, back to normal today.

Nooooo!!!

I was taught from a very early age that should you EVER see a spider, you scream VERY loudly, then run around in a blind panic looking for a safe spot around 18" off the ground, holding the hem of your skirt bunched up in one hand, all whilst shouting 'kill it!! kill it!!'

Nowadays, while I don't go to the lengths of actually TOUCHING a spider, I do give them the respect they deserve - you ask the 5 that live in my kitchen.....
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden

I'm afraid to say that's actually what I do when I see a big cockroach.   Luckily I don't live in climes where big cockroaches are very common outside of hospital kitchens and tower block flats, thank God! :pale:

I was taught that too!! However, I have got a bit better now as the other week I felt a tickle on my face and discovered a rather large spider crawling across my cheek! Eek!! Luckily I removed it calmly before having to sit down for five minutes to recover...

I think MMM is extremely brave for rescuing that spider you have more bottle that I do!
