The sounds of summer... Swallows chirping, lawn mowers, birdies cheeping... there is a particular sound to summer that is an instant cheerer-upper and today it is making me smile.

Also the realization that I don't take the sound of summer for granted and actually acknowledge it and am grateful that I can hear and see it... that makes me smile too!

Getting a griddle and a meat grinder from Freecycle allowing us to do more things ourselves and not have to rely on stupormarkets (thanks Emma for making me laugh at that word and it's stuck).

Checking out Danson Park on the way back from the Freecycle trip and making plans for a picnic by the lake sometime later this week.

My OH working away on a video tutorial he made earlier today on real time crumpet making.

Making plans and researching how to keep an Axolotl because OH said I could have one when we move to our new flat... although he probably only agreed to that to stop be nagging and begging for a Chameleon

All in all it's smiles all round today :sunny:

Now that made me smile...... I have many many happy memories of Danson Park - you'll have to let me know if the pretty bit is still there.... I used to walk the dogs there from work at weekends, I 'lost' something quite special there too  and remember taking the kids to the funfair & circus.... as well as going myself as a teenager...

Oh wow, reminiscing time......

It was all pretty from what I could see... I'm really looking forward to going now :D

Lost something special eh? Hmmm... well, if I find it I'll send it back to you

I'll be taking the camera too so no doubt there will be lots of photos of the place too if the camera decides to behave.

MMM - I think maybe we'd like her a little better if it hadn't been for all the hype :?
But no, we don't want her to win either!

And.... I do hope SPS has a lovely time in Danson Park - SO glad she wasn't around with her camera 'then'....

They have/had (?) a lovely ornamental garden there too - I still have pics of me standing in front of the Gunnera as a 9 yr old - it was huge then & the first time I'd ever seen it! There was also a few aviaries with birds in - but I expect in this day & age, they won't be there any more - sad.
Also - Roger Moore had a house opposite the park.... a trivial fact that I've carried around with me for about 30 years!

Morning!

Today i smiled when my other half moaned :argue: when i cut the hedge. Well the thing is we have an elderberry tree thats popped up in the middle that happens to be full of buds ready to blossom. I of course want to use the blossom for elderflower champagne as one does, so the hedge is cut but with a shall we say 'Feature' in the middle

My partner isn't like us ish folk, she is an only child who's parents never struggled  need i say more lol :salute:

Well I had a brilliant day... we went to get the meat grinder and then stopped off at Greenwich Park to take pictures of the baby Donkey I spotted there last weekend... then we went for a walk inside for a while as it was sunny!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/stripypixi ... nwichpark/

We were in there about two hours being stopped every two feet by super cute squirrels who would hurtle down the trees and across the undergrowth to jump out in front of you to beg for / see if you had any treats! We're going back with nuts next time because I felt so mean bending down and showing them my hands only to have them hold onto me with their wee hands, check out my hand they disappointedly saunter off!

So lots of contact with super cute animals, baby donkey and big brother donkey and a lovely walk in the sunshine.

Then we had some visitors (from a car forum) who turned out to be really lovely people and we had a really good laugh with them!

More grins than smiles today! :sunny:
