It's not easy being Cheezy
So you know how great Salsify is as a veg, what about Cavero Nero, great leaves all through the winter , then in Spring sprouting broccolli like flowers! Takes up half as much room as broccolli

Re: I need rain!
Our first rain has come at last last night,
and it looks fairly set for the rest of the day. We haven't had any for at least 3 weeks, and its not going to be enough to be of any real benefit to the garden.
But at least that turf will get a decent watering in

Re: I need rain!
Glad you guys got some rain - whilst we were in Notts it bucketed it down one day but my in-laws garden was really dry and where we walked down by a river nearby the soil in the fields was just like sand (I won't complain about my sandy soil again as it is nothing like that
) and they really needed it - I could hardly believe this was England in April not July or August. Then moved on to Berkshire where my brother in law's garden was really dry!
Came home to 6 inch long grass and weeds galore as it has rained here during the last week and I've got nice moist soil but the weeds are a frigging nightmare, the veg patch is green with weeds and self seeded coriander and dill and at least 8 spuds have sprung up from last year's missed tiny spudlings!
Glad to get home but now I've got to start sowing loads of seed. Luckily I do have a fair amount of parsnips germinated but I had to hunt for them in amongst the weeds!
