she sounds like a well trained pet to me.

Govanne is a nice but dim dog who came with the house. He has lots of foilbles and doesn't like change. When I put up the Christmas tree for example he wouldn't walk past and only did just as it was time to take it down. When we packed it away he was as equally spooked because it wasn't there. When we extended the room by removing and rebuilding a wall he couldn't follow the other dog's example and walk through the gap where a wall once stood for a couple of weeks. When he had mastered it, we re-bricked it and guess who is still trying to walk through it?

Gaia, who is an altogether smarter dog is the exact opposite and likes to explore the unknown. She especially loves climbing onto walls and roofs . One day while enjoying pizza at a friend's, we looked up to see her peering down the pizza oven chimney. When she came down, she'd singed her eyebrows.

yuck yuck yuck yuck yuck

But if you could train her to put them in the bin, would save me a job if my kittens would do that!

I'm so relieved that we aren't the only ones with 'special' pets

This has to win some kind of award in the ISH oscars; Funniest Thread, maybe....

I have stomach ache from the amount I've laughed!

I thought Orion (greyhound...dhuuur!) would win it with trying to walk across our pond....three days AFTER the ice had melted! Oh & he eats all the frog spawn :pukeright:

Dana (guess what she is?!) just comes in a bad second with barking at rain.

Stupid or just plain surreal?

Poppit (border collie 8) sings (only) to Albatross by Fleetwood Mac. When I say sing read howl in the most heart breaking woe begotten manner!

The first time that she did this I was luxuriating in the bath in the middle of the day on my day off (before kids!) and it came on the radio, and the noise totally freaked me out, leapted out of the bath running around the house in the nuddy trying to see who was killing the dog (and why the other one wasn't barking to protect her pal?). Gosh you can just imagine how threatening I would have been lashing out at the intruder with my soapy flannel and not even me modesty covered (maybe the shock would get 'em first  ) to find her sat bolt upright in the front room howling away, and the thing is she ACTUALLY sings, she responds to the guitar parts like they are telling her something.

I'm beginning to feel that I should overcome my fear of my mobile phone and learn how to download her onto here so you can hear her shes outstanding!

Meg (springer spaniel 14) needs no stories recounting as for anyone who has ever or does own a springer you'll know what I mean  Mad as a bottle of chips, and thats being polite!

Reading these I've started to think that our pets are fairly normal, especially compared to SPS's cockatiel, however, whilst about to say this both the kittens are trying to kill/catch the cursor whilst I move it round the screen, so I take back my thoughts about them being normal!

Just remembered another story about the same (sadly missed) black and white cat. When I was renovating the old farmhouse, there was a barn with a window that had no glass. Jezebel got used to jumping in and out through the window. She didn't realise we had glazed it until BUMP. She was totally unhurt until I started laughing, then it was her pride that was seriously wounded.

Oh, and then there was big black Max cat who fell out of the first floor window. One minute he was walking along the window sill. Then next minute I heard THUMP followed by a very distant MEOW. He had made a very rapid descent into the flower bed.

Cheers
Zoe

Just to illustrate Jellybeans love of crisp packets:

Image

I forgot about this one until I was looking for the crisp packet pic above. Jellybean will weld himself to the fan if you turn it on and sit there all day... god forbid the silly person who dares turn it off!!!!

Image

Proud Daddy moment, except he's useless and the eggs are infertile bless him!

Image

We can't have a fruit bowl anymore... unless we enjoy fruit with little beak marks in them!

Image

When my OH spreads out some lovely white material to begin his Medieval Costume pattern making he gets a little shadow helping him!

Image

I have loved reading some of the stories here but yes, I think Bean is a winner at being a total loser lol! Still love the fluffy twerp though!

I forgot to mention, his favourite thing to say isn't hello or anything remotely normal it's "tuppa tea" over and over and over and over again then you might get a "tuppa tea boy" which makes me laugh even harder! Sometimes the record gets stuck at the tuppa bit and we have to wait for a while to see if he will ever finish his sentence

Incredible considering no one wanted him when he was a baby because he has a wonky eye and a twisted beak :(

Love all those photos! I see there's a female (well she must be unless Bean lays eggs  ), is she nuts too?

I've always fancied having birds of some sort (as well as all the little cute fluffy things you see for sale in the garden centers) but when you've got a cat you can't!

Yep we have a girlie birdy too called Squeaky but she is totally the opposite to Bean. She's 9 years old (Bean is a granny snatcher, he's only 3 lol) and she is really sweet, quiet and reserved.

She's hand reared as well but since moving her down to London she's gone quite timid I think because she got stressed out because she'd been settled in the old place for a long time.

She still comes over for toast but unlike Bean who helps himself she likes to be given her own little bit which she holds in her foot and eats then cleans up the crumbs bless her :D

Bean woos her as well as his crisp packet by 'tuppa tea-ing' in her hear until she gives in and... well... *ahem*

Unfortunately hand reared birds don't make great breeders so now mini Beans yet (probably a good thing to be honest lol) but I live in hope!!

I adore Cockatiels, they really are the clowns of the bird world having more intelligence than a Budgie which makes them a bit more interesting and not quite as clever as a Parrot which makes them slightly silly when they try and do intelligent things (if you see what I mean).

I would have more (I did have 4 at one point) but Bean is enough for anyone and makes up for the smaller number! When I used to live in Macclesfield I used to rescue them and I never seemed to get around to re-homing them :D

I want one now! My mum's just got a budgie cos her cat died - she should have got a cockatiel! Mind you she thought the budgie would be easier than a kitten so a loony cockatiel might not have been quite so suitable for her in her old age.

My girlfriend brought her cockatiel Charlie to live with us and he hates me and i hate him - we drive each other mad. that said, she bought a little girl (that he hates but has made him quieter) and she is quiet and lovely and loves me! We called her Luna - for Luna Lovegood in 'Arry Potter
