Re: SNOOOOOOW!
We had lots yesterday and now it's all gone, melted away. There was heavy rain overnight too. I can see the moors though and they still look a bit white. I'm still supposed to be driving down to the Midlands today or tomorrow and it's tempting to set out but I suspect there is still lots out there so I'll check the weather news first...

Re: SNOOOOOOW!
Anybody traveling to the Midlands don't unless it is absolutely necessary as it is like an ice rink, the snow hsn't melted just frosted over making it very slippy if wasn't slippy enough yesterday (I fell over twice yesterday, I ended up with concusion, pulled muscle in the neck & taking half the skin off my elbow). Outside looks very pretty though.

We're in the midst of a heat wave with southern Australia in the grip of 40+ temps. We are due the same treatment on the weekend, a little snow would be good, but wouldn't last long!

Thanks, Sleepyowl, that's just what I needed to hear. I would be coming straight past you to J4 on the M5. I think I'll stay put for a few more days. Amazingly there are nothing but blue skies and sunshine up here and I was tempted to set off...

Re: SNOOOOOOW!
I had a snow day yesterday! London transport cancelled all buses and there were no trains so I couldn't get to work (sob sob!)
Had a great day running around like a child throwing snowballs and sculpting a snow lady!
Was knackered by the end of the day, but slept like a baby!
Unfortunately back at work today though, still loads of snow but the buses were running again.

Re: SNOOOOOOW!
I had the most fun ever!
Went to J's on Saturday, got there about 6 and looked out of the window and there was a light frosting. His housemate and i started wishing for snow.
About 9ish, his friend texted to say that they were going to make snowmen, i looked out the window, squealed and told him to go get his housemate. We all pulled on our boots and warm clothes and went aand made snow angels and went tobogganing.
Then...woke up at about 7 yesterday morning, opened the curtains about 8 and there was proper snow!! About 6 inches of real snow! Naturally, he couldn't get to work, nor could his housemates, and i wasn't due in til 5, so we went and played! It was so much fun! made me feel like a kid again!
Got to work 2 hours late though, but they were pleased to see me.

different breed - its important to have cute onesMillymollymandy wrote:Red - how do you manage to have such clean looking sheep? The ones across the lane from me are very grubby with bits of fleece dangling, though maybe that's because they've just given birth! No seriously they are never creamy white like yours. And they're not cute looking like yours either.

Yours are so super cute they almost look like cartoon ones. (can I say that or is that beeing sheepist?red wrote:different breed - its important to have cute onesMillymollymandy wrote:Red - how do you manage to have such clean looking sheep? The ones across the lane from me are very grubby with bits of fleece dangling, though maybe that's because they've just given birth! actually seriously if you are going to have to see them every day you might as well like the look of them. we sometimes regret choosing such a big breed though... the ones in the field next door are diddy and look so easy to turn

Re: SNOOOOOOW!
Still no snow - just as well we had no electricity from 9-2 today and probably the same tomorrow.
We've all been huddling round the coal-fired boiler, which we've had to balance between throwing out some heat but not boiling the water (no electric pump of course).
Still, it was fun - no work - spent the day wrapped in rugs, reading.

Re: SNOOOOOOW!
Hmm - we had enough to be inconvenient down the road from you (couple of inches) - and then it rained. We have some thawed and refrozen patches on pavements and in spots where sun never goes at this time of year.Milims wrote:I'm not sure whats going on here! There was a slight dusting this morning and school shut - that meant no going to work for me and no going to school for my son. About an hour later my daughter - who's school was still open - arrived home! Guess what - it's raining!
We had buses yesterday when London had none. Early on they were running as near to timetable as possible but once the snow ploughs had been along the route and moved the slush caused by gritting and salting everything settled down. Wonder why London couldn't manage the same

I did see a council wagon transporting two of those large mowers that they use for cutting banks yesterday afternoon amongst the snow showers. Is it spring yet?
