Examples are ID needing to be carried in some countries and not others, car documents in the car in some and not others, red triangle and flourescent jacket rules ( one triangle in France, two in Spain, none in the UK) fire extinguisher, spare bulbs and first aid kit ( we have the maximum in each car as I can't remember what applies where) etc. We still have to do a mental double-check every time we go away!
I think you have to have a spare pair of glasses too if you wear them (in France)!

Anyway you are obviously more on the ball than I am! I was under the impression that you'd moved from Spain to France and thought that was your permanent residence. It does all sound rather complicated moving around between the three countries!

I didn't know that one! I only use them for reading so perhaps it doesn't count anyway. I'm sure any passing French gendarmes would have been hugely impressed when we changed the trailer wheel at the roadside. We happened to have THREE triangles in the car so I used them all, plus a flashing beacon (we were on a very twisty little lane), plus our jackets. I think two cars passed in that time so it was serious overkill but I was glad we had them, there is something a little disconcerting about lying in the middle of the road with your head under a trailer. Of course it would have to be the offside one which punctured!
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

Well, I don't know about 'legally'... (although I should find out!) here in Ireland, it seems that should you break down anywhere, you just stop in the middle of the road & wait for the next tractor to tow you along to the most convenient drop-off.... and from what I've seen, if you lose your car into a ditch, you just leave it there & wander off....
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden
