Computing section?

Post: # 49663Post Muddypause »

I've always been a bit puzzled about the "Dreaded spam and other scams and computer stuff" section. Is it actually intended to be the place to talk about computer related stuff?

Is there any chance of having a proper Techie-Talk section, where people can talk about skype and Linux and other technical stuff without being in the Compost Bin with all the spam?

Every now and then someone leads me in there and I have found good stuff in there... but for a LONG time, I just thought it was a dead space where junk and spam was shoved. I had no idea there was actually info in there, and it was worth checking or posting in it.

I think that's a great idea MP!

I think the dreaded spam folder should stay too because for some odd reason that's where most of the spam is posted - we can warn newbies to be wary of going in there - some of the pics I've deleted in there have made me thankful that my kids haven't been near my screen when I've opened the folder!!!!!!

I agree, a computers or somesuch named section that isn't in the spam section would be useful, discussions re. open source vs closed, recycling and restoring old PC's that would otherwise be landfilled are relevant to the whole self-reliance/low energy futures debate. Thats my opinion anyway.

~I'll put my hand up for that too! - as a "born tinkerer" I'd find it very helpful too, as it would be great to ditch Windoze altogether! :dave:

Great.

But shouldn't we fish it out of the Compost Bin, and put it somewhere like the Everything Else Goes Here section?
