Hello from Swindon
Hi Thomzo here. Just popped in to introduce myself. I came across this forum when I was looking for advice on keeping hens. I couldn't resist joining in the discussion and now realise just what a mine of information you guys are.
My real name is Zoe and I have about quarter of an acre of garden near the centre of Swindon. I love my garden but since I went back to full time work it's far too much for me to handle so it's slowly going wild. I then discovered that hens will cut the grass as well as providing eggs. What stars they are!
I try to do what I can and am hoping to grow my own veg. I did start last year but the drought got most of them so I must try to rig up an automatic watering system this year.
Anyway - off to browse for some more advice.

Hi MillymollymandyMillymollymandy wrote:Hello Thomzo and welcome to the forum! Hens will eat your grass, but be warned they like to dig it all up too (and your flower beds, and veggie patch......)!
Thanks for the warning. I shall have to be careful where they go. At the moment the grass is a bit of mess and full of moss. So if they do dig it up I'm not too worried. In fact I can think of a few areas where I would be quite happy for them to dig over for me.
