There are not enough posters to make it so. Where are you all? :dontknow:

Well I'm on my way back home, at least I'm in the right country now.
I'll be home tomorrow with 10 days of catching up to do.
But you're right Flo, not enough posts.

And yet we seem to have readers. Very odd.

Back home now

Just looked Flo, at the time I wrote this there are 75 users online, me and 4 search engine crawlers plus 70 "guests".
Any idea how to get those 70 to register and say something ?

We do keep getting new members. I've activated a few in the last week or so.

I'm sadly not hugely self sufficient at the moment and just check in here to get moral support that I can get back there but have nothing of any great interest to post :(

Don't worry about that Cassiepod - we all have varying degrees of self-sufficiency.

I've not done any gardening for about a year, for various reasons.

We're Ish remember, no judgment here on what you do (or don't  ).

Perhaps others, like me, are just stunned into open mouthed silence by the achievements of the Ish leaders?

For me it has just been a (expletive deleted) year where I have not been able to get anything really done - just work 10 - 12 hours a day 7 days a week; my transition to retirement plan seems to have been mislaid.

As posted previously, we have essentially abandoned the veg garden for this year with the plan of a rebuild and re-start by autumn. Pic below of what it looks like now

What is that word work Weedo? It sounds as if it wants training. Suppose you are self sufficient in work but possibly that's not want you want.

It's still looking better than mine Weedo. We've been taken over by nettles, which will be a nightmare to get out.

I had thought about collecting the seeds, apparently they're very nutritious and I've even heard tell they're tasty, but I'm guessing the gales we're currently experiencing will put paid to that. Ne'mind we'll have plenty of spring tonic soup when they grow back next year, then out with them (she says hopefully).

Only the young nettles are tasty - the older ones are unpleasant.

Ah, but if you "prune" your nettles (cut them back to just above the ground) they'll sprout new, fresh young leaves. Maybe not if it's already frosty where you are but I'm still harvesting mine.

If you can't beat 'em, eat 'em.

Flo

The "work" is something I do because I like the bank manager to call me by my first name rather than Mr. It is also allowing me to (hopefully) reach a point of semi independence on my block - that is that it returns enough in needs and excess so as to not require the external inputs anymore.

GA - the nettles are there; prolific in last years beds, along with a fantastic crop of Marshmallow, I simply don't allow them to survive much past a few inches high. Most of the old beds are now under a thick layer of horse poo and straw and quietly fermenting (?) until next year (I knew I would find a use for those horses eventually)
