My totally non techie next door neighbour has Amazon Echo and I have no idea what it's really for. We don't live in smart houses - come on, these are social housing bungalows where you'd need planning permission for anything other than decorating the place.
So tell me - unless I want to buy a dolls' house as in the newsworthy headline - what does it really do? Is it technology too far unless you have built your own smart home?

Re: Amazon Echo
Dunno, Flo, but I'm fairly certain it will have Amazon laughing all the way to the bank (assuming they haven't got their own by now).
A word of caution to your neighbours - OH informs me that comments on the TV might be able to trigger it, so they might find they've bought a Maserati.
