Microwaving
Microwaving
I recently bought a Sainsbury's digital microwave and when I've tried making a small cake in a cup or an egg in a microwaveable eggcup, they remain uncooked at the bottom, though fully cooked otherwise. If I cook them longer, the larger part will be overdone. It's been ages since I last used a microwave for cooking, as opposed to reheating tea etc., but I did used to make cakes and they turned out alright. Does anyone else have the same problem when they cook individual cakes or eggs? Could there be something wrong with the machine, or are they making them differently somehow these days for environmental reasons.

Re: Microwaving
Dunno really, although I'm fairly certain most microwaves have "cold spots" - that's why you have to move, turn or stir things periodically.

Re: Microwaving
Do you cook in the centre or on the edge?
Apparently cooking on the edge of the turntable reduces the cold spots

In the middle to cook evenly, so I thought.

Re: Microwaving
Also both eggs and cakes will continue to cook after the microwaving has finished.
Try moving to the edge and leave for another couple of minutes , covered see what happens??
