what do you feed you pigs on out of interest, and what age do you let them get to

I have small and damaged spuds, some dried peas, a rake of swedes (cooked), pumpkins and any other veg waste, table slops and some organic pig ration to keep the protien levels high

Next year i plan to grow fodderbeet, and maybe jerusalem artichokes and increase my potatoe and pea output

Not sure about age, but I will kill the first one when big enough probably in the new yearin the new year when they will be approx 6 months old

Interesting, pot bellied pigs don't seem to eat that sort of thing, they would eat veg and spuds if they were cooked, but not raw, they like apples a lot. My previous pigs ate acorns, but we don't have any mature oaks round here, they would eat pounds of them. The pig I have left eats the buttercup leaves, and some roots, but their main ration is organic Ewe as we feed it to the alpacas and it is suitable for pigs as well. Will you find it hard to kill them?

The process of slaughter is quite emotionally grueling for me, but as a meat eater I have to be prepared to do the dirty work, so I will come to terms with it
