2 kg rhubarb
almost 1kg black currants
over 1kg red currants
wild strawberries
strawberries
raspberries
salad
potatoes about 6kg ( all from a 9p bag of updated potatoes now that what a call a good turn for your money)
2 kgs peas
big hand of runner beans
and got Swiss chard and spinage by the ton
going to have a feast tonight
now what to cook
Raspberries , strawberries, red currents , black currents, blue berries ( I feel a summer pudding coming on )
Mange tout , peas , courgettes , potatoes
And a few beetroot , they are quite small due to a bad start to the season.
I hope I might get a late crop of beet as the seeds I sowed a few weeks ago have all germinated nicely and we have some nice growing weather at the moment, warm with a mixture of showers and sun.
Not a good year this year but at least I am getting a little bit.
This thread always makes me feel so inadequate. I was feeling quite pleased with today's gathering but compared to you all, it's pretty poor really. I picked:
Loads of stuff that I won't bore you with, except I thought you might like to see why I grow shallots rather than onions. My onions don't keep where shallots keep for getting on for a year, plus shallots grow bigger .... shallots on the right, onions on the left.
At least there will be a jar or so of pickled onions for winter (I won't mention the Chr****mas word in July)

We've done the summer raspberries but the autumn ones are looking good. Onions are no great shakes but we have some. Elephant garlic - what grew is good. Cabbages are good and caulis not bad considering the sudden hot weather. Beetroot and salad in full flow and plenty of herbs. Various bean crops looking good.
Peas and broad beans safely gathered in. Courgettes and marrows not bad. Even a cucumber grown on the compost heap outdoors and there could be more - quite by mistake and with no special care.
It's a break even year to date with raspberries and strawberries tipping the balance on the side of profit.
Wild cherry-plums , stewed two panfuls so far and yet to get to other side of the tree, not a huge bounty year but enough to cheer me anyways
and the mint has finally settled so will be freezing some few good handful of that too (oddly since this new one has settled the old one that had disappeared has reappeared)

Sweetcorn harvesting today, froze some of the smaller cobs whole for eating but this lot has now been stripped off their cobs and some are destined to be bottled and the rest frozen as kernels.

It's Sundance, one of the few varieties you can get nowadays that isn't Supersweet or Tendersweet (which I find far too sweet)
Plus it's recommended for oop't north.
