Measuring your eco footprint
http://www.myfootprint.org/
Here's my results...
CATEGORY GLOBAL HECTARES
FOOD 1.5
MOBILITY 0.1
SHELTER 0.1
GOODS/SERVICES 0.2
TOTAL FOOTPRINT 1.9
IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 7.6 GLOBAL HECTARES PER PERSON.
WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 1.8 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE GLOBAL HECTARES PER PERSON.
IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 1.1 PLANETS.

I think it said 5.3 was the average in UK.
I get different sized feet all the time... it all depends on the criteria... being rural and with poor local transport we lose points big time on the transport score!!
Food - we are meat eaters so lose points again but we produce our own chooks and eggs - that isn't taken into account.
My score was 3.3.
given that your average footprint in Oz is 7.6 I think you are doing really well boots!!!

I don't find this very fair as I got a high score because I have a big house!!! It doesn't ask me how I heat it (with wood).
And how come I get a high score for goods/services, when there is only one question: how much waste do you generate? I ticked the lowest option, "much less than others".
So how did you guys get less than 1.8???????

PAR CATÉGORIE HECTARES GLOBAUX
ALIMENTATION 1.1
TRANSPORTS 0.1
LOGEMENT 2.5
BIENS ET SERVICES 2.1
VOTRE EMPREINTE TOTALE 5.8
EN COMPARAISON, L'EMPREINTE ECOLOGIQUE MOYENNE DANS VOTRE PAYS EST 5.3 HECTARES GLOBAUX PAR PERSONNE.
IL Y A 1.8 HECTARES GLOBAUX PRODUCTIFS PAR PERSONNE DANS LE MONDE.
SI TOUT LE MONDE VIVAIT COMME VOUS ON AURAIT BESOIN DE 3.2 PLANETES
Proof this just makes it up as it goes along - in French answering exactly the same I get a completely different set of numbers!

Well...erm... I never wrote it...
But no matter what language Mandy - you still talkin some BIG numbers there woman!
An eco footprint looks at energy, food, water, building, transport and consumables to measure the amount of land and sea area you need to remain sustainable - I think its measured in relation to your population's activities. France (or the rest of your population) might have some "issues" that are confounding your efforts?

The whole thing is mad!!!
The first one, I said I lived in France but did it in English. The 2nd I said I lived in France and did it in French! So there shouldn't have been any difference.
When I do it in English, saying I live in England, I get 4.2 footprint!!
I still don't see how you can get a low score for goods and services when there is only one question. - No I have cracked this one. It is based on the size of your house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do what?

Mine comes up with 2 earths?
My food comes from my allotment with some things like eggs - local free range, milk - comes from south wales mostly but dorset when I am nearer a shop that sells it. no prepackaged food. unless you include cheese. also food comes from foraging.
My electricity is supplied by eco-tricity. I do need to insulate my loft this winter - despite it being a rented house. - I could save the money back if this winter is cold though.
I travel on public transport, cycling or walking.
So why do I need 2 planets? This does not seem right to me either.
