How do we get traffic to our facebook page?

The whole reason for the selfsufficientish website was to offer a place where anyone can ask, HOW DO I...? So who knows why it has taken us so long to have a HOW DO I? section, but here it is. So if you want to know how to do anything selfsufficientish then here is the place to ask.

We have just set up a facebook page for Bulworthy Project and wondered if anyone has tips on how to get traffic to it.

Any tips anyone?

Ask people to "like" it, which I have.

(And do feel free to "like" https://www.facebook.com/pages/Vend%C3% ... 18?fref=ts - I've not been updating lately, but I will be starting again now that we are heading into our season.)

I would post forum topics asking how you generate traffic.....clever!

Oh or set up a link that says if you like a post and share it with 4 friends you will automatically become well endowed and irresistible to women, and win the lottery. That or some e-card that berates men, or bigs up the multi-tasking ability of ladies.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

I have to sit down to breath, and wee, the superior one insists.

A lot of local businesses offer prizes - "Like and share this page for a chance to win a free night in our hotel" - that kind of thing. I know this because my friends 'like' and I see the businesses turn up in my newsfeed. I don't know whether you'd want to try it, but that does seem to work.

I have heard about the prize thing before but i havent tried it myself.
Ive only recently set mine up (with the help of my "good wife") but have been given some advice from friends. One thing to do is to constantly update it by either having "job of the week" type of thing or even just adding or changing pictures weekly. I was intending initially to put loads of pictures on but its been explained that it would soon disappear beneath all the other posts if that makes sense to you. If you ask people to share your page on their wall it increases exposure.
Since i posted a comment on your page ive noticed that views on mine have gone up, it might be pure coincidence but i cant be sure?

If you can be bothered to look at my facebook page its here:

Look for similar sub groups on FB.

The spoon carvers and green woodworkers are here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/GreenWoodWork/ Run it by Phillipe Steele (Admin) first though as we've had a few businesses trying to sell stuff on there and that is their only interest in posting. We have about 900 members and I'm sure your pages will attract a lot of interest.

I'm sure they wouldn't mind you putting a link to your page on there as long as you emphasise the green woodworking parts of your projects.

PS. I've liked your pages too

We tried to look at the green woodworking group, but it won't let us. It may be because we only have a business page not a personal one. :(

I'll try inviting you, that may work.

Thanks for trying. Unfortunately the link just takes us back to our own page. We'll talk to some facebook savy friends and see if there is a way to work around this.

I have this problem with my Facebook page, I have a page called the cottage garden Dromahair for my produce and I tried to like your page, but it won't like things as cottage gardener only as me, it seems that Facebook may have changed how they do things, if you find out how it works, let us know because I am no techy and I find a lot of this stuff a bit bewildering, gardening is so much easier.

To paraphrase some social media training I was given..

Write interesting/useful content.
Like other people/pages/groups with similar interests, including your customers and groups of interest to people you'd like to be your customers
Write interesting content
Share your content with like-minded people/groups/pages
Write interesting content
Share other peoples content that you find interesting/useful

(yes, there's a deliberate repetition going on)

Actually, I missed a bit. Why do you want traffic to that Facebook page? - I'm guessing that it's to sell the charcoal, you could add the website address to the contact details and the page banner.
Curently collecting recipes for The Little Book of Liqueurs..

Hi George, the liking of other people, pages etc is the problem, I set up a business page and it wouldn't let me like anything, then I set up another page after getting advice from someone else, and I still can't like anyone else, I think this is the same problems that Bulworthy is having, a more techy friend even came round to look and couldn't sort it out, maybe some settings are to blame or something???
