Just agreed to buy first house!

Post: # 234203Post Andy Hamilton »

Expect lots of posts asking about solar power, wood burning stoves and turning a slope into a veg patch. We've just agreed to buy a house! Without borning you all with the finer details we are staying in Bristol for another year before the big scottish move and it just worked out cheaper. I plan to get the house ready for the 21st century as much as I can! More than that I can paint a door if I wish, I've rented since I moved out and never been able to so much as attempt to an aprovement. So its an exciting prospect. We hope to move in in 8 weeks time, I can hear the cinical home owners saying to themselves, oh he does does he, some hope. Well as long as we are in before Christmas!

Its a great place, views of Kelston round hill in Bath, near a big park, a semi wild graveyard, the river Avon, veg shops, a few decent pubs, butchers and most of all no bloody damp meaning we are no house sharing with slugs and woodworm!

That's great news and, of course, now is a good time to buy if you have nothing to sell as there are some fantastic bargains out there.

Bloody hell Andy - you're becoming one of those there respectable folks - who'd a thought!!

Well done though, when we first bought in Blackpool, we went from £440 a month rent to £250 a month mortgage - it was VERY noticeable - and then the decorating started....

Congrats!! Housewarming??

Well done, now what Color do'es the OH want the windows, and the pantry door needs a new handle and do you think that the cat will get on with the neighbors dog,

Good luck Andy, and when you have finished the house you can write a DIY book.

Perhaps not, by the time you finish the odd jobs, you will be too old, like the rest of us.
