its too cold !!!!!
I need some advice here please ! Our weather here in Pembrokeshire has been worryingly strange lately. A vey hot and dry April followed by a vey cold, wet and windy May. At the beginning of May,when it looked like summer had arrived,I planted out a row of French beans,a row of Borlotti beans,2 pumpkins and 2 squash. At the time they looked happy, but since then the weather has been wintery with nearly gale force winds at times. The plants all look very p****d off, sort of hunkering down like they're thinking 'why has the silly cow planted us now,it's winter ffs! Should I maybe cover them with fleece inthe hope that they stop sulking and start growing,or dig them up and start again?
Cheers. Gaynor x

I planted at the beginning of May, too. Everything is doing fine, but then we live in a strange weather pocket where (normally) we get much less extreme stuff than other parts of the country. Given that, I'd go for the shelter - get some fleece down. The tops of the plants may look sad, but I'd bet the root systems have grown - so they'll recover quickly.

Ha ha,green fish fingers sound gross!!! And while we're on the subject,my many spelling mistakes are due to my lovely Newfoundland Matilda sitting next to me every time I'm on the computer and insisting on giving me her paw.As she's nearly 8 stone i'm often nearly toppled off the chair! I'm writing this while she's investigating what i've put in the bird-feeders. See,I can spell sometimes ! Don't know how to put a quote or smilies on,any help much appreciated xxx

Beans had a feed, water and now snug inside a fleece barrier. Fingers and everything else crossed !
