One of our cats likes to sleep right up against me. By day, my wife is his favourite. He is a big sucky mama's boy. But as soon as the lights are out, he jumps up on the bed and snuggles against me.
Which would be cute, except that my sleep pattern is very temperature-sensitive. I need to be cool to fall asleep, and any source of heat wakes me up. And he is one hot kitty!
(In case anyone thinks that closing the bedroom door is a solution, we've tried it. Dear little Owen thinks nothing of scratching at the door and meowing loudly all night.)
However, I have started to notice a pattern. If I have something garlic-y for supper, he doesn't sleep on me. Last night, I had some really garlic-y eggplant spread, and was correctly able to predict an uninterrupted night's sleep.
Too bad it is also a wife repellent!
