Fronting up
Fronting up
I have to beg the forgiveness of the Gods of Ish.
Today I went out and bought a shed. Its perfect - extremely low maintenance, just the right size, easy for me to build all by myself, great reviews etc. etc.
But it's made of ... don't look if you're queasy ... PLASTIC.
Oh woe is me ...
Mike

Re: Fronting up
I suppose one positive is that you won't have to paint it with wood preserver every year.
Has anyone seen the plot, I seem to have lost mine?

Aaagh, that wood that doesn't need preserving.
If it makes you feel any better, Mike, I've just bought a garden chest made of that stuff - not for the garden though. It was the only thing I could find that was big enough to hold 4x25kg sacks of flour!

Re: Fronting up
It looks like you've also got a polytunnel covered with plastic (me too!). It's a very handy material, just extremely overused in our culture.

Photo please! I have never heard of a plastic garden shed!
What colour is it?

Re: Fronting up
Ah - it's a bit twee. Imagine a large Wendy house. It's beige and coffee, I think, but there's no choice in that.
It's a Keter 11x8 Fortis shed if you want to look it up, and the reasons I chose it is that it's not at all flimsy and I really can erect it by myself. OH is very helpful but has a tendency to wander off at crucial moments (we're well-suited). It also fits between the very large tree-stumps which I don't fancy digging out. Oh - and there was £100 off.
Amazing how practicalities outweigh convictions at times
Mike
EDIT: But things have already improved. I'm told in the assembly booklet that I can have only one window per side. Looking carefully for the reason, I realised that it's because the decorative non-operative shutters would interfere with one another. Leaving those off means I can have two south-facing windows and less tweeness. It'll look much more like a manly shed now

Like this then - and now I know what you mean abut the 'shutters'.
Actually it's not too bad but the colour is a bit naff isn't it.

Re: Fronting up
What a great idea!
I think your reasons for buying it are sound.
It does look allot like those Japanese houses that goy floated away in the flood recently.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

Are those the original doors,or did you liberate them from some mausoleum?
Re: Fronting up
Hmmm ... now that you mention it ...
Ah well - too late now. It's bought and arriving on Wednesday. I'm now having lots of fun trying to level the site. Simple, I thought. Well, it's simple in theory. I'll have another go tomorrow

Re: Fronting up
Mike, shall I make some patchwork curtains for it? & I'm sure if you asked her nicely, Mrs Flibble would crocet you some lace nets!
Seriously, it looks quite practical. You'll have to let us know how UV stable it turns out to be in the long run.
