Big bright quilt

Post: # 223881Post Susie »

Inspired by Keaniebean's quilt (Sarah, I said that on my blog as well but I'm not a stalker/ single white female-type person honestly), I made a quilt too! (Sorry for flickr link, I am working with inadequate IT facilities here. Mine not ish's. ;-) ). There are a few more photos on my flickr + also one of me looking slightly mad in a knitted cowl, don't say I didn't warn you.

Terrifyingly this was made all out of stash fabric (hence the slightly eccentric colour scheme). So the whole thing only cost me the price of the wadding which was about £17. I do use quilts, so it will get lots of use.

It was a bugger to quilt, I broke three needles and the light on my sewing machine went out (in a terribly symbolic fashion) and I started to think Fate was against me but I persevered. And now it is done! I swore while I was doing it that I would never quilt anything again but when I was putting my fabric scraps away I may have got some others out just to see what they look like together. But I'm not addicted. Honestly  .

Wow, it's amazing! I love it, the colour scheme is great. I made a quilt recently too:

Susie, this is quite frankly GORGEOUS. :flower:

Well done you. Even better that it was practically free.

Thank you, everyone! :hugish: (And Helsbells, well done! Isn't it addictive?).

I think what I'm pleased about with this quilt is, I always kind of thought you couldn't really manage to quilt a large(ish) quilt on a basic, non-long-arm sewing machine without a walking foot. I could probably stretch to a walking foot but I'm never going to be able to buy a long-arm machine, but actually, I don't need one, it quilted fine! So I'm really encouraged and I'm making another. :cooldude:
