Made me giggle...cheeky monkey

Post: # 222252Post becks77 »

I went to the car wash last night...I know but needs must, having not used one before I asked for instructions.
He says " is the black car yours? well drive it up to the white box......etc"
Me "Yes but its actually blue and silver"
Him "Oh you really do need a car wash!"
Cheeky mokey!

Actually there are good reasons to use a car wash; the oils & salts that come off in the suds are very bad for the normal drains & a proper car wash has to deal with them appropriatly. Also they tend to use less water, but that is probably off-set (ecologically) by the energy used.

If the roads are salted, make sure to spray the underside of your car clean. The salts can eat away at the exposed metal. My truck needed some major repairs not too long ago because I didn't realize that, the brake line rusted out from the salt, and I wound up parked in a tree!

abit off topic perhaps, but somebody was telling me that during the heavy snow, they'd noticed a yellow coloured "leak" from the underside of the car ... no fluid you put into the engine is coloured yellow, so with abit of g**gle searching & chatting with mechanics ...
its apparently if a ball of snow gets stuck onto the undercarriage pipework, it can react with the metal & chemical coatings and causes this yellow stuff

thought it was worth sharing (& maybe saving a fortune at the garage!)

Becks you have some strange coloured dirt there in Sussex.

Our car is always beige in the winter. In summer it's a pale bluey silver.

Where about was the yellow liquid under the car?

The mechanics are probably talking B*ll*cks to be honest, most do (no offence to any here)

My OH is an EX Mechanic but reckons that it's almost impossible to get a reaction like that and it's most likely some kind of fluid such as hydraulics fluid, Gear Box Fluid or Brake Fluid as they are all yellow and in the cold the pipes could shrink and cause a small leak.

We might be wrong but unless the water was rust coloured under the car where a patch of rust has gotten wet it seems very unlikely.
