Well if you didn't keep tidying up, and forgeting that we have a place for every item, which you may not change, or instead change them, then deny moving it, then give us that "why are you getting so upset that I moved your battery charger, forgot I had, denied doing it, then wouldn't say sorry whenI did actually remember where I put it" Look.

Hehe, my hubby asks where things are before he's even looked though I do get the "I've looked EVERYWHERE", to which I say "did you check your pocket"?......"oh yeah"

My skill is getting stuck into things I have no reason to believe will work out, or that I have no skill for. In fact I'd say making a list of skills I'd like to have is becoming quite a skill I play a bit of guitar, sing a bit, cook a bit. Just thought - I can do spreadsheets!

You all seem such a bunch of clever people, gimme a few years and I hope to have a list the third of the size of yours

Feltmaking
Cooking from scratch (amazing how many people I know who are impressed by the fact that I can make something basic like soup or a cake! I was so lucky to learn so much from my mum)
Budgeting
Sewing - not an expert but enough for my needs
Passing on skills and knowledge to others - I like to find ways of explaining things that work for people depending on how they like to learn
Writing
Thinking imaginatively

I am SOOOOOO bad at :

Anything involving precision!
Remembering things - I have the memory span of a goldfish...

I'm with you on this one. My husband was amazed the first time he saw me cook roast potatoes starting from actual potatoes, and some of his relatives still don't trust me to make gravy without a packet of granules!

I can
make do and mend, paint but not wallpaper, sew, lay carpet and vinyl flooring, create and use a relational database, knit, grow fruit and veg, crochet, spin yarn, build flat pack furniture, weave, wire a plug, cane a chair, process raw fleece, dye and felt wool, cook, bake, budget, french polish, oil finish, keep accounts, speak some german; very little french and understand some dutch, make preserves, use a spreadsheet, ride a motorcycle, plaster a wall, darn socks, patch sheets,

I can't (many things, but based on what's gone before)
embroider, plumb, engineer, play a musical instrument, touch type, make soap (though I can read, so the soap making might come later)
or work the damm spinning wheel

Patchwork, knit, garden*, shear a sheep, milk a cow, wire a house, light a show, ('cos I trained as a theatre electrician, many Moons ago), speak passable french (but I can't spell most of it!), train dogs, touch type, punctuate (but not spell!), read Tarot cards, lecture in environmental science, drive (finally bothered to learn aged 45 & passed my test first time ), decorate (both painting & papering), tile, lay a brick wall, design loft conversion (well I did ours), make bread, jam, pickles, (although I dislike most other cooking, I can do it), swim, lay a hedge, kill most 'food' animals, make black pudding and explain the 'off-side' rule!

Things I'm no good at:

children: I don't like them, they don't like me: it's fine!
patience, I have none!
singing, I was tone deaf, then I lost the hearing in my right ear so there's no hope now!

Skills I'd love to aquire:

I'm not good at
Completing all the tasks on my list, not the important ones like 'phone car insurance' or 'disinfect yard' but v. v. good at crossing off 'bake buns' 'make x's birthday card' ect

In all seriousness though what a talented bunch!

I'm good at pretty much all crafts, and am capable in most artistic disciplines, but seeings as how I teach them / work with Learning Disabled Artists / am an Artist myself, I'd probably be out of a job if I couldn't do them lol!
Gluten Free Baking
Gluten Free Cooking (these two learnt through necessity)
Stacking Wood
Making Tea apparently (even though I don't drink it myself)
Diplomacy (although not in my own home where I take it ALL personally )
Filling my studio and my husbands tool shed with stuff I don't want in the house anymore

I'm not good at
Putting the laundry away! (see Ghost thread )
Weeding, well it's not that I'm not good at it, it's just I never can seem to stick to it long enough!
Anything musical, although I have every desire to be
Checking the Oil, Water, Tyres and Lights on my car on a regular basis, which is incidentally my New Years Resolution (to get better at it I mean, not carry on being rubbish with it )

I can do some weird and wonderful things directly connected with my strange upbringing. Conversely I can't do other perfectly normal things for exactly the same reason.

I can:

Make a fire with sticks
Play a guitar, violin, shakohachi ( a type of Japanese flute), spoons and a hammer dulcimer
I can do cornrow braids properly
skin a rabbit (that's a new skill since we moved to France)
Milk a goat (ditto)
Manage enough of the French/Occitan patois to communicate with some of our very old neighbours and even occasionally understand what they are saying to me
Stitch up a wound neatly enough to leave a minimal scar
Set broken bones
Juggle
Ride a unicycle
Write completely ambidextrously
Work as a builder's navvy to Mack when he needs an extra pair of hands
Recite the whole 19 verses of The Lady of Shallot
(Which reminds me of that Folk artist thread, has anyone heard Loreena McKennitt singing this? It's lovely.)

I'm learning to:

Cook,bake & preserve
Knit and sew
Treat minor kid's ailments without running to the doctors every five minutes
Stop being so opinionated about things I don't really know a whole lot about

I can't:

Do anything to do with grammar (or spelling) with any conviction
Tell anyone much about history, geography or religion
Cut hair (ask my son, his is now down to his shoulders as I'm not allowed near him)
Tell jokes
Tell left from right without serious thought (see above re ambidexterity)
Learn to love spreadsheets. I can DO them, but don't see the point - by the time I've put all those formulae in I could have done it myself.

I see new items in oher things, for instance I bought a linen table cloth with a view to turning it into a top.
I could survive in a wilderness if needed; i used to have an obsession about SAS survival tips.
I can smell a bargain!
I can crochet, sew, knit.....

deal with technology(dont like machines that break when hit with me hammer)

assosiate with people( would rather talk to some animals)

I can do a lot of things...but what I admire most in this thread are all of you that can cook a fine meal...everything else doesn't really matter if you're hungry. I'll come home boasting about some terrific thing I did only to be humbled by my wife's delicious cooking.

My list...
* I can dive and surface a submarine....surfaces equal to the number of dives.
* I can program computer games.
* I can troubleshoot and repair industrial manufacturing equipment.

Wish I could...
* weld
* remember all those proportions of fertilizer for all types of veggies
* do concrete work (with rebar)
* make beer...low cal but tasty
* do a chin up
