Monty's coming back to GW - thank god!!!

Do you think The Good Life could be remade, with me or Dave playing Tom Good (maybe not!)? If you have seen something on TV or heard something on the radio recently that you want to talk about, tell us here.

Monty's coming back to GW - thank god!!!

Post: # 216666Post Millymollymandy »

Toby and Alys are going  and Monty is coming back  , and presenting from his own garden too!!! I really haven't enjoyed GW since Toby took over and they moved to that fake looking place. The only downside is that Rachel de Thame is going to be on it again too, but I find her marginally less annoying that Alys Fowler!

Good news indeed, I may well go back to watching it then.
Shame they didn't get shot of Carol Klein with her phoney over exuberance, it might just have made it a good program again.

Yay! GW just wasn't the same without Monty, I'll start watching it again once he's back!

(I did like Alys' Edible Garden series, useless but fun... :toothy9: )

So glad to hear Monty is coming back, I really like him and don't know why but could not take to Toby. We have watched GW for so many years but these last couple of series we haven't bothered much so as soon as Monty is back so will we.

I know a lot of people don't like Carol Klien but I am a great fan of hers. She really knows her stuff and obviously loves her garden and plant knowledge is second to none in my opinion.

I love Carol! My husband can't stand her but I love how she gets so excited by her garden, it's wonderful seeing someone with so much passion :flower:

I like her on GW but found her too OTT when presenting a programme all on her own - that one about veggies was just too much. Also like Joe Swift particularly since they started showing him on his lottie doing it from scratch, he became human as he didn't know that much about veggie growing! Just can't bear Rachel who can't get her nice little hands dirty but hopefully we won't see too much of her.

The last two series on that new virgin piece of land haven't done it for me and most of the time we'd record GW then not bother to watch it.

....Tis a sad day indeed. Why have they chopped "my babe" from the show? I likes Toby but again didn't like Carol although she is a real gardener with dirt ingrained in her hands and that N^*&B h&^*d garden designer with his urban front garden and bike shed.

As for monty Don....... WHY???

I agree with Big Al - I liked Alys. But as for the stupefyingly boring and highly unbelievable Toby going ...

Yay! Monty is fantastic! His 'the Organic Gardener' is a total bible in my house.
Althoguh I still haven't forgiven him for slagging off pink dahlias that time.

Toby's problem was that his patronising tone made me feel like a primary school child. He should move over to Childrens BBC instead, he would go down a storm on Ballamory.

SO GLAD!!! I was an avid fan of GW from the early 80's but gave up after Toby took over.

In Rachel De Tame's defence, I understood that she, like me, had to wear gardening gloves due to an allergy, (in her case it caused a miscarrage  ).

Friday nights will be heaven again: warm bath, followed by a snuggle on the settee with Monty!
