Real community spirit

Post: # 216585Post old tree man »

I was baking some bread today when a community officer knocked on our door, she introduced herself and said as we live in a bungalow and have an access ramp for Janes wheelchair she was checking if we were alright and did we need anything during the very deep snow that we have at the minute, i thought this was a lovely act of community spirit and kindness so hats off to our local bobbies for caring well done :thumbright: :thumbright:
i am going to put pen to paper and thank them officially, its nice to know that they are looking out for anyone who may need help.

Nice to see that some people are still concerned about community - them for checking and you, large tree bloke, for feeling strongly enough to express your gratitude. Perhaps - just perhaps - there's a chance for the world.

What a nice thing to happen Russ and just goes to show that there are still people out there who really care.

Also good on you for taking the time and effort to write to say thank you. People seem only too eager to complain about everything and anything today yet forget to say a simple thank you when it is due.

Gives you some hope that community care still exists and thanks for telling us about it. Up here everyone helps everyone else out and the local shop has been taking food orders by phone then sending their kids out with backpacks and a sledge to deliver the groceries and they think it's a great adventure. Farmers have been using their tractors, pulling cars stuck on steep driveways and neighbours are looked out for too - nice feeling of all pulling together.
Life's a bitch and then you diet.

It is so good to here that there are still kind thoughtful people out there. We have experienced first hand this week how community spirited our neighbours are. Our little girl was rushed to hospital on Monday by ambulance following a seizure. Our closest neighhbour came over and helped my OH with dinner for our other 2 kiddies then in the evening a neighbour from the far end of the road came up and sat in while Neil came up to the hospital and then on Tuesday are neighbour who lives up the lane facing us picked Finley up from school and looked after him until we could get there!! Its been fantastic, we have lived here 2yrs and hav felt very alone but when we needed it community spirit shone threw. Itys such a breath of fresh air. X

We got home today, thank goodness!! She had 2 silent seizures in 24hrs, it was all very scarey but thankfully she is in good form and seems grand. They don't know what caused them so I'm so scared incase it happens again. They r doing tests on her brain waves to make sure there isn't a 'loose connection'! Its hard to test her cause she is only 2 and doesn't understand.
Thanks for askin Mw. Xxx
