Unless she said this to you in a really off way, don't necessarily read it that she didn't want you round - she might genuinely have thought she was saving you trouble. Also her house might have been a complete tip or the cat might have just been sick on the rug or the children had repainted the living room with tippex or something, and you caught her at a bad time. Don't necessarily give up if you get on in other ways - some people just don't like being dropped in on at short notice, it's no reflection on you.happyhippy wrote:So I rang the lady in question,we had a quick chat and I suggested I pop in to return the books? She said "Oh its ok don't bother"Me:Its no bother,I'm visiting the town anyway"Then she said "No really, its ok there's no need to drop them back in now, wait until January"So I do try to make friends,i just keep getting the cold shoulder!
I can be a bit reserved (I don't think I'm standoffish, I try not to be) but people do manage to make friends with me. Sucker them in slowly, that's my advice, because that's what works on me. I would say slowly slowly catchy monkey but I'm worried it's a bit of a questionable saying, anyway that is what I mean, so please forgive any possible dodgy linguistic stereotyping.
