UPdate on us

Post: # 202921Post mrsflibble »

well.............

my mum is busily recovering after finding out she's got coronary heart disease and is in the early stages of congestive heart failure; she's being treated with aggressive medication because she's only 46.

I found out I AM lactose intollerant, then jim did the diet to see if that was why he kept having tummy troubles and lo and behold he is too, then we decided to put soph on it and see what happened.... she recovered, doesnt look so pale, eats properly now etc so we're now a lactose free family.

can't remember if i mentioned it but i failed my 3rd driving test and booked my 4th ;)

soph starts proper school in sept so i'll have more time for my garden and sewing etc. housework? what's that?!

so. how are you?!
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very
ve-he-he-he-heryyyyyyy soooooooooooon!!!!

It's true what they say about it never raining but pouring., but at least once you have a diagnosis for these things then you can deal with them better than if you just know something is wrong but haven't got a clue what.

We are just counting our lucky stars at the moment, we have many ups and downs here but for the moment things aren't too bad. :?

You sound like you are being upbeat about it all, which is really good :thumbright: :flower:

Glad to hear your Mum is on the mend.

Have you tried goats' milk? A lot of lactose intolerant folk find they are fine with it. It'd mean you could have milk shakes again.

As for the dreaded driving test, good luck!

Sorry to hear about your mum,so young! I'm sure she will be fine, especially with you to help her!. I agree with the goats milk idea. My son was allergic to cows milk forty years ago and we gave him goats milk for several months and his allergies cleared up. Mind you, it was a bit grim, we got it straight from the farm and it was full of hair! We had to strain it first! Hope you don't miss Sophie too much, but we look forward to seeing your creations!! pbf. XX

Ditto to all that :flower:
I have intolerance to cow milk, but goat milk (+cream, yoghurt, cheese, butter) is fine
However when I was first self-testing for food intolerances I did 12 months of 'no dairy' and I lost stacks of weight so as I'm getting plumper I think I may have to revert to that.

Well one thing's, for certain, you are dealing with this much better than you would have done a few years ago. Well done you.

Good luck to your mum and good for you for being there for her.

Good luck to you all for the lactose intolerance. As already said, now you know the diagnosis you can deal with the problem.

Good luck with the driving test. I suspect it's just nerves, conquer those and you'd sail through.

Good luck to Soph at school. I bet she'll get on really well.

Zoe
