30th...... give me a clue....

Post: # 201483Post Annpan »

Its OH's 30th this year and we had discussed taking the eurostar to Paris (we have never had a holiday... not a proper one...) but seen as it is less than 2 months away, we have no passports and no money (due to the crapola to do with the house) I need to come up with a plan B.

He has shown interest in bees.... I was wondering if it would be a good plan to buy him a bee hive? but would we ever get any bees to live in it? Or I wonder if I could get hold of a second hand one?

Otherwise... I think he would like a bike, but that couldn't be a surprise as he would have to choose, and the good ones are several hundred anyway

It is my 30th later in the year and I have asked for a party/barbeque/housewarming for it.....

Could buy him 'The barefoot beekeeper' and a few planks of wood (it shows you how to construct a simple 'natural' hive). But a nucleus of bees these days might cost you a £100 or more unless you are lucky to get a swarm for nothing (although too late this year). But I think most blokes just like a nice meal and cuddle.

How about a years subscription to your local bee keeping association ... first steps to becoming a bee keeper ?

Can't remember that far back  But it's my gal's 25th soon and we're thinking of paying for a jewellery-making course for her. What about something like that (maybe not jewellery  ) - sounds like a building course wouldn't go amiss :pale:

In line with other peoples ideas, maybe a bee keeping course? My OH got a magazine subscription for his 30th (I forget what for now) and he loved it. Not only did he seem very happy with it but I got to see his happy little face when it turned up once a month
