Hello from Galway in Ireland

Post: # 197279Post elvgrengirl »

Hello everybody.

I'm from Co. Galway in Ireland, I'm 26 and live in a small town with my boyfriend and my lovely cat Sally.

We're quite new to planting things and having a garden, but at home my Dad has had a lovely herb garden for years, and we really wanted to start planting things as well.

So far we have 26 sunflowers, some peppermint, a blackberrybush, some other bush that was already in the garden and could be a blackberry as well, some parsley, a tomato plant and a chilli plant.

I also planted a few wildflowers at the end of the garden and Camelias.

I'm really looking forward to getting lots more ideas and tips from you guys!

xxxxx C. aka elvgrengirl

Hi! Welcome to Ish

What part of Galway are you from? I'm right up top on the mayo/roscommon border - it's a popular place for us lot

Ah, wow! My daughter nearly took a place there to rent, but thought it was too far from us. She looked at a place just about opposite the park - lovely place :flower:

My boyfriend's family is from here, but I'm planning on buying a house in the middle of nowhere sometime next year. Might just move up the hills and stay in the area though. It's really handy to get into Galway to commute. There are a lot of nice little houses going around Glenamaddy (is that around where you live?), but that's just to far out for me.

Hi and and welcome
Our remote ancestors said to their mother Earth, "We are yours."
Modern humanity has said to Nature, "You are mine."
The Green Man has returned as the living face of the whole earth so that through his mouth we may say to the universe, "We are one."

Yeah, we live a bit up from Glen, but it was the furthest we could get for hubby to still commute to the city for work. It takes him about 45 mins, but usually he works 3 days one week & 4 the next, so the commute is bearable!
With all the folks from Ireland on here now, we'll have to get some sort of Ish meet planned later in the year - I might start to look into that :sunny:

If that road is as good as our Loughrea to Gort one...... :? :? :? :? 3 tyres killed by major potholes in 6 months :( and we know where they are at this stage! the only way you could avoid them is if you walk!
