Sounds bad! If the photo shop machine said "no images" rather than "card not recognised" or even nothing at all, then it sounds like it thought the card was good but empty.

Try taking any old photo and checking if your camera, your computer (if it has a card slot) and the photo shop machine can see that one. If it can, your other photos have gone. If it can't, then either the card or your camera itself is kaput (or, unlikely, the card contacts are dirty).

Best of luck :(

Mike

EDIT: There are Unerase programs out there which will recover deleted files from a disk. I've no idea, but they may be able to do the same thing for a card - worth a try. (But, as Crowsashes says below, don't try the "take another photo" test if you're going to attempt this)

i use digital slrs all the time and never have had a card 'wiped' from charging the camera or the battery.

you may have some hope , whatever yo do dont use take any more photos or format the card in any way as this will lose any data there. youll need to try and get a recovery program of some description.

there are several online that are free that should be able to help with this. although im not sure which is the best someone else hopefully will be able to help you out on that one which will save you trawling through reviews etc!

basically they will recover any deleted files from your card and find your pictures.

any way there is hope just dont use the card for now! put it somewhere safe.

sorry i cant help more

DO NOT TAKE A PHOTO! you might lose any chance of recovering the files!

I hope you get something sorted (((((hugs)))))

We are taking photos but everything is run past our structural engineer too now. Up here the building warrant relies heavily on the word and guarantee given by an independent and registered structural engineer. I wonder if yours can help?
There may be other options (if you can't get photos back) like cutting a cross section out to prove you have done it right??? could that work?

Good luck anyway :hugish:

Well yesterday tragedy struck....... over the past few days OH has been able to regain control of the site as the weather has been kinder and has made some progress laying drains which go through the new extension, and finally getting the surface of the extension ready to pour the concrete slab. Unfortunately when I came to download these photos yesterday the memory card on my digital camera failed. We are distraught as they are almost certainly essential and going to be needed as proof that we have done things correctly. We are currently appealing to the BCO's better nature :dontknow: but may have to undo all the work of the past ten days which is disheartening to say the least. I know this is a last ditch hope but are there any geeks out there who know if there is any possible way of retrieving what was on there or is it gone forever. By the way I took the card to a photoshop yesterday and it shows no images :( I suspect I know the answer. Can't see how charging the battery should affect the memory card......... .. don't know about Welsh building regulations, but can't see how your own photos would be evidence/proof ,of anything whatsoever. (are these photos required?).

Edit: I charged the battery pack at one point, can this erase a memory card?
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

Susie, send me a private message with your email if you still don't have any luck as i have a good recovery programme on my computer somewhere. But don't try formatting the card or putting more stuff on it. I can't guarantee recovering what you need but we can try. If you want to phone me too that's fine and i can talk you through it.

I've been doing my homework on these cards. It is highly unlikely (in fact, it simply shouldn't happen) that taking one photo would mean the loss of all other data - you may have overwritten one photograph, but the rest should still be recoverable. So, it's still worth trying one of the Unerase programs on offer. Don't give up hope yet!

it might help if you use the memory card through a card reader rather than the camera its self, will make it easier searching for the drive i think.
