Homegrown "Cascade Hops" for swapsies

Any of you homebrewers interested in Cascade Hops ?
I have two plants, they produce about 20 lbs of hops each year.
after dehydration that is about 4 lbs.
That is more than I can use.
I have properly dehydrated them at 105 deg. Fahrenheit for 10 hours.
then I imediately Vacuum packed them in 2 oz and 5 oz and 6 oz packages and
stored in the freezer.

I am looking for regional items that I can't necessarily get in Minnesota.
let me know what you have to offer.
value in US dollars ?
Hops go for about $2.50 an oz in Minnesota.

Hi Minnesota.

The only thing that I would have to swap would be beer, and that's not really practical to ship to you, and I guess you are making your own anyway. Near impossible to get cascade rhizomes on this side of the pond. Any chance you would be willing to send a few rhizomes to Ireland or even some seeds? Are there any brewing ingridients that we get here that you don't have access to, different strains of yeast maybe?

I may be moving next spring. If I do, I will be digging the two cascade plants.
I will then have extra rhizomes.
rhizomes really should be transplanted in the spring.
I will have to look into what shipping costs would be.

Cascade hops are very hardy, and should do well in Ireland.
lastly, my plants don't produce seed. I understand that a male plant
has to be nearby for a female plant to produce seeds and seeds are undesirable
in the brewing process.

Hey Minnesota.

I would be happy to cover any shipping costs involved when the time comes, so will keep my fingers crossed. Makes sense that there are no males, as they would cause the females to go to seed, and they wouldn't flower as well. I'm currently waiting on some rhizomes from a supplier in the UK, Fuggles, Target and Progress. I guess it's okay to replant them over here at this time, as our winters are a lot milder than you have stateside, but I don't expect any gorwth until the spring. Hop growing died out in Ireland some time ago, so it's up to us craft brewers to get it going again. Gets me excited just thinking about making beer with my own hops.

I'm glad you are eager to brew with your own Hops.
Since you are willing to cover the shipping.
even if I don't move and dig them up, I've dig around the perimeter
and get you a few rhizomes, it'll probably be early march.
I have very mature plants, I can probably get you quite a few

Good news and Bad news.
I was at the US post office today.

Good news: the US postal service will ship a small flat rate box to Ireland from Minnesota for $13 dollars US.

Bad news: Ireland customs will not allow Live plants and live plant matter into the country, that was shipped from the USA.

sorry, I won't knowingly break these rules/laws.

Thanks for checking this out for me. I will probably be over in the US some time next year. I will try and make it around march, so maybe you could ship to one of my work buddies around Boston? I can pick them up from there, and I can bring them back directly, so you wouldn't be breaking any rules. No problem if you don't feel like doing this either. Either way, I have found the below site that will ship to Ireland with the necessary customs documentation, but I expect the cost to be fairly hefty, but am willing to take the hit to be able to grow my own cascade, as I use it a lot.

I will ship cascade rhisomes to Boston MA USA.
no problem. it will be cheap. depending on how many
root pieces you want. shipping will be either $5 for small box
and $10 for medium box. I can get about 3 pieces in a small
box and about 10 pieces in a medium box. each piece will make a plant
that will mature in two or three years and develop a root mass about
5 feet in diameter. I strongly recommend they be planted
at least 10 feet (3 meters) apart.
oh yeah, I want $2 per root piece. (about the size of a cigar)

If you are interested, check out the Irish Craft Brewers website. We have a thriving online community with regular meet ups going on all around the coutry. There's even a microbrewery here in cork that lets us come in on a saturday morning to do brews using our own gear. It's very communal and in a couple weeks time we have our Christmas party with two casks that we brewed a couple of months back.

Are there any rules about posting hops from Ireland to mainland? I live in Lincoln england and would love a couple of rizomes (or 10) if you have any spare after your planting-I have cash for your postage expenses etc!!?

though I don't know for sure, I think there are customs issues
about shipping live plants and live roots to England.
I will only ship Rhizomes within the US,
if you or a friend are visiting the U.S. this spring,
we could figure out something.

My original post was to swap Hops for something like seeds
or something from England that isn't readily available
to me in Minnesota USA.
