Aww poop! I'm disappointed!

As I've mentioned my contract runs out in a couple of months and they are no longer having the post, so I have to leave the job that I've really enjoyed. I've applied for several more jobs and had 2 interviews so far this week. I had one today for a job I really wanted to do and although they said that they had been really impressed with me they couldn't give me the job as I didn't have enough experience. So it's a catch 22 - I can't get the experience without the job and I can't get the job without the experience. It's really frustrating!

That is such a classic problem. But just because you have done a particular task before, doesn't mean that you are any good at it!

Keep looking, something better will come up.

Milims, I know how you feel... With me it's the other way round - either I'm overqualified, or I don't have the exact qualifications they are looking for, even if I could easily do the job... Was turned down for a mail room assistant's job just yesterday, because I "didn't have the skills". Ah well. Yeah, sorry, an MSc doesn't qualify me for the opening of mail, and making coffee for meetings. It was only a part time temp job, but since I have another part time temp job at the moment, it would have fit in so nicely with that...

So what I'm saying, even with loads of experience and a string of qualifications you don't necessarily get a job! It's really mostly luck, or who you know, and being in the right place at the right time.

oooh that drives me nuts "not enough expeirence" ..."not got the skills. grrrr. I would rather teach someone the skills to make sure they do it right if they have a good grounding, reliable any day than some one who is supposed to know what they are doing. Why do you need tp be fully expeirenced? whats wrong with watching someone grow and employers being part of that growth.
