Yet another reason not to shop in a Stupid Market!!

Post: # 159969Post thesunflowergal »

I am a little bit :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire:

I have just popped into my local A S D A for some milk. At the checkout my daughters and I where filmed, by a man. I turned the buggy around so that my youngest was not seen, and quickly paid.

I went to ther customer services to ask who this bloke was, why was he filming, why did he not ask for permission etc etc. To be told that it was for the news. Please tell me if I am being a grumpy old whatsit. But I do not want my kids being filmed without permission, let alone being used on tv. In hine sight I should have shouted at the man, but I was just trying to get my kids out of the way.
Stay at home Mummy to Orin 8, Trixie 6 and Temogen 4 . Also three Chickens Dottie, Poppy and Dr Mumbo. Three cats called Flossie and Pickle and Lexi.

You have every right to privacy. Even if you hadn't had your children with you, he shouldn't have filmed you without your permission.

Years ago my ex was feeling really ill and took a day off work. He was so bad that I took him to the chemist to see if they could recommend anything while he was waiting for a doctor's appointment. In town we were accosted by the local tv cameras asking what we thought of the recent football result. We didn't want his boss to see that he'd been up and about so we acted like a couple of film stars and put our hands in front of the camera  I bet the crew wondered who we were and whether they should have recognised us

Take care
Zoe

I don't know if the rules are the same for news but for film and tv, you can film as long as you have permission from the property owner but can not broadcast or exhibit somebody that is recognisable (ie. their face) without a consent form being signed by that person or by their parent/guardian.

I don't know how this specificity effects children but the rules regarding schools are very strict, teachers have to have permission from parents to take and display photographs.

well 'in this day and age' you can be filmed from any different angles, by CCTV, police cameras, news crews... there's not a lot we can do about it... The government doesn't seem to care and most people don't seem to care (ie. all the people wanting a mug shot on the news, the 5 minutes of fame idea).
CCTV cameras etc. I feel should be seen for what they are, attempts to protect private property or people's security, but the news filming people without their consent?
I say next time it happens, make the shot un-useable, ie. go forward and ask him what the hell he wants, or stick your finger up at him, very little chance of THAT making it onto the news.
As I ping from tree to tree I wonder... why do I seem to have transformed into a pinging tree-dwelling thing?

That is true - my friend helped out on a mini CCTV protest in Liverpool Street Station - she was holding a sign saying' Everything is ok' whilst two guys filmed her and the people who stopped to talk to her. They got a lot of hassle (as you would expect) - and pointed out that there is so much CCTV on the station so what is the problem with them filming? The response they got was that 'they might be terrorists'

Its a tough situation - we should all have to give permission to be filmed - however we are being filmed pretty much wherever we go whether we like it or not. :(

You are in an urban environment - it' still different out in the sticks. One reason why I'd never want to live (work, shop etc) in town.
