Snowy

Cycling, trains, walking. This is the place to talk about how good or bad cycle routes are, mention great train journeys, talk about car sharing schemes or husky travel. Anything in fact that is about transport that is a little alternative.

Snowy

Post: # 160693Post ~TheSandWitch~ »

G'day,

My alternative transport of choice is Snowy, a harness pony (and a cart) I have just purchased from Victoria. Now, I'm in the middle of the Northern Territory and couldn't really have bought an animal from any further south unless it was Tasmania!

Photo shows him, the grey obviously, in a carriage driving competition. There'll be no competitions up here, just pleasure drives and with cart modifications, out to collect firewood and/or cow manure for the garden.

I had to look at this thread because I've got a hen called Snowy .... I hope you have loads of fun with your Snowy. Whereabouts are you in the middle of the NT? I have memories of a very long road from Alice Springs to Darwin and stopping off at Katherine and somewhere else where there were hot springs. Not refreshing in those temperatures!

I've never done that trip to Darwin, it's way too humid up there for me.
We're 400kms of rutted dirt road from Alice Springs, our nearest town. Suffice to say I willn't be driving Snowy to get the weekend papers :read2:
