Not much in it I'm sorry to say. But we are aiming higher for next year. Unfortunately the house move means we'll loose this plot and have to start again anyway.

Well you have to work with what you have and necessity is the mother of invention!

If we can 'garden' with what we have ANYONE can, there's no excuses!

OH wanted to put up more hanging baskets for Tomatoes and what not but we're trying to get a move to a place with a garden so have put that idea on the back burner depending on how long getting a new flat will take!

On the up-side, we haven't paid for herbs or Spring Onions for getting on for 2 years now and we use herbs and spices ALOT!

EDIT - OH just said "sod it... we should put the other baskets up and take them with us when we move"... so I guess that means we will be putting more hanging baskets up lol

I've got strawberries successfully growing in hanging baskets - in fact, they're the first to ripen every year.

We tried this, but lost them all when we went on holiday for a week. The strawberries we have by the shed get eaten by slugs and birds, but at least we get some good ones. The hanging ones would (I hope) have foiled the slugs. Do you have problem with birds and how do you keep them watered when away?

@SusieGee - I'm very jealous of your little patch. Soft fruit cage looks just about bird proof. I'm considering this the model patch I'm going to be stealing ideas from when we move in to our new place.

@SusieGee, beautiful!, our fruit trees / bushes are slightly too spread out for a cage... and anyways we pretty much have a pet blackbird, two pet chaffinches and a collar dove, not to mention a thrush, a kestrel, and the odd passing buzzard, and there mates! A bird cage would be a waste of time with that lot around!
Our favourite deterrent is growing so much they can't eat all of it!

ooohh im liking the herb garden on a windowsill! atm i have a herb basket (i think the dill has died tho)

i shall post a piccy of my veg patch and the bean patch soooooon, im so very proud of this years patch =D we've also got loooooooads of stuff growing in pots - spuds, toms, peppers, a lemon tree and a few others, and we've got quite a few fruit trees ^-^ i never wanna leave hoome, itd be too much effort starting a new garden hah

the veg patch avec cucumber, aubergine, courgette, cauliflower [slug eaten], cabbage [slug eaten], tomatoes [looking a bit sad], onions!!!, garlic, lettuce, radish and chard


the bean patch - was meant to be a row of runners, a row of borlotti and a row of monj toot [yeah i know i spelt it wrong], but it hasnt quite worked, so i think its ganna turn out to be mostly runners and monj
