Now I know

Post: # 154164Post Thomzo »

Well I gave up work two months ago and I don't seem to have made much of a dent on the list of jobs that I was going to do during this time.

Today I found out why.

The chore at the moment is to renovate a run-down shed-come-greenhouse that sits on the side of my house. So far, it has taken me over a week and I've hardly started. So I was going to paint the windows (inside if it rained). Did I? Forget it  . So what happened?

Well first I had to pull the kitchen apart so that the plumber can fix a leak tomorrow. When I pulled out the fridge and the cooker, the floor under them was disgusting so I had to wash the kitchen floor.

Then I remembered that my main water butt had a leak so I thought I would fix that quickly. When I moved the water butt it was full of stale, dirty water so I cleaned it out. Then I discovered that the drain pipe feeding it was blocked so I cleared that. The butt feeds from the conservatory roof which was disgustingly filthy and I thought it was a shame to fill a nice clean water butt off a dirty roof so I cleaned the conservatory roof. When I was cleaning the roof, the outside tap started leaking so I had to fix that.

Then the OH appeared. He is moving house and was chucking out a perfectly good wardrobe, sofa and a dustbin full of compost material. I had persuaded him to bring all those things my way (they might come in useful one day). So I then had to find a home for all the goodies and empty out the compost. The sofa is being freecycled and there has been a flurry of e-mails about it.

By this time I was cold and soaking wet and needed to warm up in the shower. After the shower I was far too clean to start painting windows.

Maybe tomorrow!

Can I just thank you - I was feeling useles cos I never achieve half of what I'm supposed to! When you write down the reasons like that it makes much more sense!

Ha, no chance. It was far too cold to be out in the shed-come-greenhouse. The plumber was here all morning - at least the leak is fixed and he did a very neat job  . While he was here there was very little I could do so I sat and did some studying. Got me a bit more up to date with the studies which is good.

I did manage to mow half the lawn in the twenty minutes between showers and then had to put the kitchen and laundry room back together again.

Cheers
Zoe
