links and windows

Tomorrow's World was a show on BBC TV about innovations and tech stuff and I thought a good name for our computing and tech section.

links and windows

Post: # 151788Post fruitcake »

Hi
When I click on a linky [URL] it opens the link in the same window as I'm reading ish - is there anyway I can set it to open links in new windows? It's driving me bonkers trying to get back to the thread I was in having gone exploring others..........

There is something very techy and geeky about the code for the forum that makes this happen and it doesn't seem to want to be re-written.... or something...

Basically, this has come up several times and there is nothing that we can do about it. sorry :(

The only thing is to right click on any links and click on "open in new tab" thus keeping 'ish open too, most of us have got used to doing that now.

We know it is an issue and we would fix it if we could :(

If you have the new IE (the one with tabs) you can middle click either with the button if you have one or with the scroll wheel to open in a new tab... fire fox also has that setting I believe although you may need to set it up to do that (it's been so long since i did that I can't remember)

But if you have the old IE then there isn't a way of doing it apart from right click and open in a new window for every link (as has already been said) :)
