Re: Horseradish
It is a veggie thug, its making a bid for world domination from its Worcester HQ our local allotments.I expect you could get a root from either someone with an old established garden or from an allotmenteer as it grows OK from root cuttings.Just keep it in check as it has a good grip on life

Re: Horseradish
it needs very little attention & is a perennial, just make sure it doesnt take over the garden

Re: Horseradish
Grows like ....... something that grows really easily!
Grow it in a big pot, not invasive then and much easier to dig up.
When it's grown, pull it up, break a bit off and replant it. Wash it then peel and grate it outside or it'll have you crying like babies.
We just bottle it in vinegar, no cooking, just stick it in a jar and top up with vinegar.

Re: Horseradish
more ideas I can use! Yippee - I've got 3 roots of horseradish stuffed in a pot waiting to go in the garden.
i'll heed the advice re planting it in a large pot rather than letting it go mad - it can join the mints on the deck

Re: Horseradish
awesome to know! I got it right by accident - planted it in pots when i first got it - no room in the garden at the time. have devided it once but am yet to use any. how thick do the roots get? From memory, when i devieded it the roots (biggest one) was only about 1cm/ 3/5inch thick . . . when should i harvest it?
