The Last Rose ?
Been busy down the veg garden lately, but today decided to clean up the flower beds and found this,
and as it was only plus 3c here this morning and all the leaves are off trees it seems to be doing rather well.

Isn't that great! Until a few weeks ago I still had lots of things flowering in the garden as we hadn't had below zero. There's still a cranesbill geranium putting out the odd flower now - but wierder than that is the late winter/early spring flowers which have been flowering for months - a hellebore which started flowering in August 
plus violets and primroses have been flowering for a while now. Gets wierder every year I reckon!

I have a Tree Anemone (Carpenteria Californica) that should bloom in May/June. It is absolutely smothered in buds right now and the first few are in bloom.
Should be a picture in the new year if we don't have too many gales.

That's pretty - I don't know that shrub. Does it normally put out a few early flowers in winter or not? I've got a rhodo which always has a few buds which half open about Nov/Dec which I never understand!

I assume it waited and waited ... and waited for what it considered to be early summer and gave up when it didn't happen.
