I had a couple of bags of clothes that Katie has grown out of, including some really nice winter coats, so off I went to the little village about a mile away where there are lots of charity shops to drop them off. Whilst in there I found a terracotta garlic pot which I've been wanting for ages for £1.49, and a ball of unraveled wool for 40p that I've wanted to crotchet into a tea cosy. In another charity shop I was flicking through a box of framed pictures and found something out of place - a brand new single bed mattress protector for £2.50 - exactly what I wanted for Katie's bed now that she's potty training.

I can't believe that I found so many things that I wanted in just half an hour. I can go into our city centre and wander about for hours only to come away with empty bags and feeling tired and frustrated, and a tiny little village that is closer to my house than the centre of the city I live in seems to have everything!
