The other room

Post: # 110473Post tim&fatima »

Hi guys, as I am writing this there are still a few of you stuck "in the other room" I've never been in a chat room before, but i'd just like to say i really enjoyed it.
Whilst John was working like mad to get the new site up and running, I got to know some of you a bit better, in "real time" as someone called it. So thanks for the chats, it was good  .
It's nice to be important,

It's such fun that I think it should be a permanent feature

It was fun!

I'm with the vote for a permanent chat room feature!

Very enlightening! Who'd have thought that Brij was half vampire half cookie monster who can slay a french bloke with a bread an butter pudding at 30 paces!
It was really good to chat to you all - my only reservation aboutit being a permanent feature is that it's far too darned addicitve! lol

Hey - it was definitely good to speak to you all in 'real time'. Although I don't want it to be a permanent feature - as there's no record of the conversations and so no log of any good advice that's posted. Might be good to have a day in the diary to do it again though. How about self-sufficientish day in August? (And then once every couple of months or something?)

I think we should have it as a regular thing - I agree that it is too addictive and might be better to have it on only for limited times (my suggestion was few hours morning and evening - 8-10)

If it was on all the time, we'd all be on it all the time...I managed to get 30min work done in the last 2 days (OK it was raining too - my excuse)

It was lovely getting to know everyone a bit better and we had some laughs.

Ah - posted this elsewhere, but perhaps this is the better place. When I left the chatroom last night, Red, Marshlander and Brij were still in limboland, unable to find the forum. I'm sure that they represent the tip of an iceberg. Is that chatroom still in existence and, if so, what is the address (it's disappeared from my history listing)?

I agree with the sentiments there, the information is too volatile.

Having said that, it was most pleasant to have a chance to get to know you a bit better, and to share a joke etc.

I can't imagine that many people are having problems getting into the site now. Half of the flogging of the computers was probably filling in time while the DNS got to each person, the last button clicked before the DNS updated may have seemed to have fixed it, when it was a co-incidence. Cookies would only be a problem once you got into the site, like when MKG kept being kicked out when he tried to post on the new site, cookie conflict from old site and new site.

The cache should update automatically as the data (site) is being served from a different place. At worst you'd get a hodgpoge of old and new graphics.

So I wouldn't worry, the propergation is nearly propergated. Websites are being moved al the time, and you wouldn't even know it, but thanks to this wonderful community we had the intrestesting experience of seeing it happen in real time, which for me as an old hand in this business was a rare treat and a lot of fun!

Thanks everyone for your company... and big up Headstrong, sterling work. :wav:

Aaaand Milims' back this evening to see the half vampire half cookie monster in the room!

I think the chatroom is brilliant... OzoneParis is now letting me connect, but I'm logged on anyway

Though I don't tend to think much before I type, so I think the forum is safer for my rep. in the long run.

And I've said it before but I'll say it again : Thank you headstrong!
